Vertical Reels for companies: what CEOs record that works

By Dani Acero, Founder & Filmmaker

Which vertical Reel formats work for companies and CEOs, how to record them well and the mistakes that destroy authority before you even start.

The CEOs who do best in vertical video are not necessarily the most comfortable in front of a camera. They are the ones who decided what they want to say, and in which format, before switching on the first light. Everything else (technical quality, framing, audio) is secondary if the content has no clear goal.

At A0Studios we record Reels for companies of all sizes: startup founders, executives at established companies and brands that want someone on the team to be the voice of the business on social media. The pattern among those who build a real presence is always the same: they know which format fits what they have to say, and they don't try to do everything in one clip.

What type of Reel works for a company or a CEO

A vertical Reel for a company or an executive profile does not compete for virality or chase generic followers. Its goal is more specific: to build recognition among people who could already be customers, partners or candidates. In that context, the most effective format is not the most spectacular but the most recognisable: someone who knows what they are talking about, explains it clearly and shows up consistently.

The formats that work for companies in vertical video are fewer than they seem. The take (a position on something in your industry), the explainer (how something works, why a certain decision makes sense), the behind-the-scenes (what the team does, how a real project is run) and the result without confidential data (a business milestone told with context). Four formats. The CEOs with the best digital presence rotate between them without looking for more variety than that.

How to do it well

The leadership take: short, specific, yours

The take is the most direct format: a position on something in your industry, in under 60 seconds. It doesn't need a revelation or unpublished data. It needs the viewer to understand clearly what you think about something specific. If, when the clip ends, the viewer can repeat your position in one sentence, the take worked. What doesn't work is the generic take: sentences any professional in the industry could sign without anyone knowing who you are. The more your own the point of view, the better the retention.

The process video: show without revealing everything

Process content (what the team does, how something is built inside the company, what happens in the studio or the strategy meeting) works because it gives real context to what you sell. You don't need to reveal sensitive information. Showing a fragment of authentic work the viewer can't otherwise access is enough. That kind of clip builds trust without a sales pitch.

The result Reel: tell it without the exact figures

A result can also be told on video without revealing confidential data. A finished project that is well described (what problem the client had, what was done, what changed) works as social proof without naming companies or sharing contracts. The most effective vertical format for this is a direct-to-camera monologue in three blocks: the context of the challenge, what was done differently and what result was seen. Between 45 and 75 seconds. No corporate intro.

Common mistakes in company or CEO Reels

  • Talking about the product or service from the first second: the viewer doesn't have a reason to listen yet.
  • A 10-second corporate intro before the content: in that time you have already lost most of your audience.
  • Audio recorded with a phone microphone in echoey rooms: perceived authority drops before you start talking.
  • Publishing without subtitles: more than 70% of vertical video consumption on LinkedIn and Instagram happens without sound.
  • Changing the look in every clip: visual consistency across pieces builds recognition; constant variety destroys it.
  • Recording without a clear position: videos that try to please everyone end up saying nothing useful to anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Does it make sense for a company CEO to record Reels without many followers?

Yes, especially in B2B. An executive's Reel doesn't compete for mass reach: it builds trust among a small number of relevant people. A CEO with 800 well-chosen followers who consistently watch your videos is worth more commercially than 10,000 random followers.

How many Reels can a company record in half a day in the studio?

With good preparation, between 10 and 15 clips of 30-60 seconds. If you include a change of spokesperson (for example, the CEO plus someone from the team), expect between 12 and 15 pieces. The key is to arrive with the list of topics closed before you walk into the studio.

Does the CEO need a script, or can they improvise?

For take or explainer formats, an outline of 3-5 key points per piece sounds more natural than memorising. If they prefer a teleprompter, we have one available at A0Studios: just send the text before the session and it will be set up from the first minute.

What is the difference between a Reel recorded in an office and one recorded in a studio?

The space communicates before the video starts. A studio with natural light, a considered background and clean audio conveys a level of preparation that a company meeting room can't replicate without prior work. For a company that wants to position itself as a reference, that detail matters.

If you want to organise a Reels session for your company or start recording as a CEO with a format that works, get in touch via /#contacto. At A0Studios we plan it with you before the session so you walk in knowing what to record and leave with material for weeks.
