Video Production in Madrid: Stages, What's Included and How Not to Overpay
Video production in Madrid explained by stage: pre-production, shoot and post-production, what each includes and how to plan it if the video has to sell.
When someone asks for a video production quote in Madrid, they're almost always comparing different things. One offer includes scripting and editing. Another, only two hours of camera time. The prices look comparable and they aren't.
I direct content and ad sessions, and the first thing I explain is that production has stages. If you understand what happens in each one, you decide better where to invest and what you can cut without the video losing impact.

What video production is and why it matters
Video production is the whole process from defining the goal to having pieces ready to publish. Filming is only one part, and often the shortest.
It matters because each stage shapes the next one. A weak script can't be fixed with an expensive camera. A shoot without cutaway shots makes editing slower and costlier. And a video without a clear goal can't be measured afterwards.
At A0Studios we offer three levels: Recording Only, Recording + Editing and Full Production. What changes between them is how many stages we cover and how many arrive already sorted by the client.
How to do it well
Pre-production: where the video is won or lost
This is where you define what the video is for, where it will be published and what it has to trigger. A Meta Ads piece is not the same as an organic Reel: the hook, the length and the call to action all change. You also lock the script, references, wardrobe and list of pieces. With 1 or 2 hours of solid preparation, a 3-hour session yields around 15 short pieces.
Shoot: pace and direction
On the shoot, pace rules. With the fixed setup already in place in the penthouse at Ronda de Atocha 16, the session starts recording in minutes and you don't lose the first hour rigging lights. What makes the difference is who directs: someone who cuts at the right moment, repeats the hook until it works and thinks about the edit while shooting.
Post-production: editing, color and versions
Editing in DaVinci Resolve or CapCut covers assembly, subtitles, sound and color correction. If the video is for paid, versions are prepared here too: different hooks, vertical and square formats, and 15- and 30-second cuts for testing. It's much cheaper to plan those variants during the shoot than to request them later.

Where people usually overpay
Overspending almost never comes from the camera. It comes from decisions made late. These are the most frequent ones:
- Shooting without a locked script and discovering in the edit that shots are missing.
- Asking for a single long piece when what's useful is 10 or 15 short ones for social media and ads.
- Changing the goal of the video midway, from organic to paid, without reworking the approach.
- Not asking how many rounds of revisions the editing includes.
- Hiring the shoot in one place and the edit in another, with nobody thinking about the edit while shooting.
What sets a good process apart is not the space, but that whoever directs it has made ads and knows what converts. That's why at A0Studios we direct the session with a sales mindset, not just an aesthetic one, for both social media and paid.
Frequently asked questions
What are the stages of video production?
Three: pre-production (goal, script, planning), shoot (filming and direction) and post-production (editing, sound, color and final versions). Each can be hired separately or together.
How long does it take to produce a video?
It depends on the scope. A 3-hour content session with several short pieces edited can be delivered in a few days. An ad with a script, direction and several versions needs a bit more pre-production and review.
What is the difference between Recording Only and Full Production?
Recording Only gives you the studio, the equipment and the session. Full Production adds pre-production, direction, editing and delivery of versions. If you already arrive with a script and an editor, the first is enough. If not, the second saves you time.
Can I produce video for ads and organic at the same time?
Yes, and it usually pays off. You shoot the paid pieces with a hook and a call to action and use the same session for Reels and organic content. You need to decide this in pre-production so the script serves both uses.
