When to hire full production vs recording only
You do not always need full production. But sometimes skipping the editing is the worst saving you can make. A guide to choosing the right service for your project.
When someone contacts A0Studios, the first question is price. The second is what is included. And that is where the same conversation always starts: it depends on what you want to do with what we record. The three services (Recording Only, Recording + Editing and Full Production) are not versions of the same service. They are different approaches for different needs. Choosing wrong costs more than money: it costs time.
I have seen projects pay for Full Production when Recording Only would have been more than enough. And others choose Recording Only and the footage ends up on a hard drive, unpublished, because nobody was available to edit it. The right decision does not depend on budget, but on where your real bottleneck is.

What really separates the three services
Recording Only gives you the raw footage. You leave the studio with the files and do whatever you want with them. It is the starting point for teams that already have in-house editing or creators who prefer to control every cut.
Recording + Editing gives you the finished video. We record and edit: cuts, music, titles, subtitles if you need them. It is the most common service at A0Studios because it covers 80% of cases: podcasts, interviews, reels for companies, LinkedIn clips.
Full Production goes one step further. It includes pre-production (script, outline, camera dynamics) plus recording and complete post-production. It is for projects where the client does not want to think about anything except appearing on camera and having the result look right from the first frame.
How to choose based on your situation
If you already have an editor
If your company has a video team or a freelance editor you trust, Recording Only makes sense. The studio gives you image and audio quality that your editor can make the most of. There is no point paying for editing you already have covered elsewhere.
If time is your scarce resource
For a founder or CEO who records once a month, editing is friction that kills consistency. Recording + Editing removes that friction: you record, leave and receive the finished material in 24-48 hours. No follow-up, no coordinating anyone: the whole cycle closes with a single session.
If you are starting from scratch
If you have no script, do not know how many cameras you need or have not settled on a format, Full Production is the right choice. Not because it is the most expensive service, but because pre-production changes the result. A well-built script can double the number of usable clips you get from a morning of recording. Without it, you record longer than necessary and edit more than you should have to.

When each option makes sense
- Recording Only: if you have in-house editing or the footage goes into an established post-production workflow.
- Recording Only makes no sense if you will take weeks to edit because you lack time: you will end up publishing nothing.
- Recording + Editing is the default option for most projects: podcasts, interviews, LinkedIn videos, reels.
- Full Production fits product launches, series with a specific visual identity, or clients who have never recorded professional content before.
- Hiring Full Production for a weekly reel is oversizing; hiring Recording Only for a VSL with no prior script is falling short.
- The real bottleneck is usually time, not money. Choose the service that removes that bottleneck.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start with Recording Only and move to Full Production later?
Yes, and it is a common path. Many clients start by recording and editing on their own to understand what they need, and when they scale their content volume they move to Recording + Editing or Full Production.
How long does delivery take for each service?
With Recording Only the files are available the same day. With Recording + Editing we deliver in 48-72 hours. With Full Production the timeline depends on pre-production: usually 5 to 10 business days after the session.
Does Full Production include a script or just advanced editing?
It includes full pre-production: script or outline, camera planning and the dynamics of the interview or presentation. It is not just editing with more layers: it is upfront work that defines how the recording will happen and maximizes the usable footage from the session.
Which service do you recommend for a weekly video podcast?
Recording + Editing. For a weekly podcast where you need cuts for LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, the delivery cycle has to be fast and frictionless. Full Production makes more sense for launch projects or series with a very defined visual identity.
Choosing between services is not only a budget question. It is a question of where your bottleneck is and how much your time is worth. If you are unsure what makes sense for your project, write to us from /#contacto and we will work it out together.
